Real Oviedo chief issues fresh Haissem Hassan transfer update amid Celtic interest

Real Oviedo sporting director David Fernandez has insisted the Spanish club will remain in full control of Haissem Hassan’s future as Celtic continue their pursuit of the winger.

The Scottish champions are still in discussions over a move for the World Cup attacker, with negotiations continuing despite reports earlier this week claiming a deal had already been agreed. Those claims have since lost momentum after the journalist behind the original report removed the post from social media.

While talks remain active, there is no agreement in place at this stage.

Hassan is entering the final year of his contract with Real Oviedo, making him an attractive option for Celtic as they look to strengthen their wide attacking options before the transfer window closes.

Speaking at a press conference, Fernandez stressed that any decision regarding departures will be made by the club and only if it suits their plans.

“We are prepared for anything that might happen. We already have a significant portion of the squad with us.

“This is all a club decision. We’re going to try to keep the best players and let go of those who need to leave.

“Everything that happens makes us activate or deactivate things. Everything that happens is part of the job.”

His comments underline Real Oviedo’s determination not to be pressured into a sale, despite Hassan’s contract entering its final 12 months.

Celtic remain interested in completing a deal and have not cooled their pursuit of the winger, but negotiations are still ongoing, with both clubs yet to reach a final agreement.

As the transfer window moves into its decisive weeks, Hassan continues to be one of Celtic’s priority targets, although an official breakthrough has yet to materialise.
