Raul Jimenez shares major update that will bring a smile to Wolves fans
Raul Jimenez provides encouraging injury update as Wolves await his return
Things are looking increasingly positive at Wolves, who have climbed to second place in the Championship table, behind leaders Middlesbrough, ahead of Saturday’s important trip to Wrexham.
The Old Gold have enjoyed an impressive run of form, recording three consecutive victories against Watford, Cardiff City and Bristol City to strengthen their promotion hopes.
However, manager Cesar Peixoto will undoubtedly be wondering what might have been had Raul Jimenez avoided his injury setback earlier in the campaign.
The Mexican striker, who has earned 130 international caps, suffered a serious knee injury that proved considerably worse than initially anticipated. Wolves were subsequently left with little choice but to send the forward for ligament surgery.
The operation meant Jimenez was expected to remain unavailable until January, dealing a considerable setback to the Championship promotion hopefuls.
His absence came at an unfortunate time, particularly after his impressive return to Molineux. Jimenez had arrived back in the Black Country following his departure from Premier League side Fulham, having enjoyed a memorable World Cup campaign with co-hosts Mexico, where he found the net three times in four appearances.
Wolves struggled for consistency following the international break, suffering defeats against Middlesbrough and Bolton Wanderers. Jimenez’s absence was certainly noticeable, although several teammates have stepped up in recent weeks.
That has allowed the experienced striker to concentrate on his rehabilitation without feeling pressured to accelerate his comeback.
His latest message, however, suggests that his recovery is progressing encouragingly and could provide supporters with renewed optimism about his eventual return.
Raul Jimenez shares encouraging Wolves injury update
Throughout his spell on the sidelines, Jimenez has regularly used social media to keep Wolves supporters informed about his rehabilitation.
The striker has gradually increased the intensity of his recovery programme, moving beyond basic exercises and beginning more demanding physical sessions as he works towards regaining his strength and mobility.
He also appears to be maintaining a positive attitude despite the frustrating setback.
That was evident in his latest Instagram story on Thursday, where he shared a video of himself working on his legs in the gym.
Alongside the footage, Jimenez wrote: “Making really good progress 🔥💪🐺.”
The four-word message offered an encouraging indication of how things are developing behind the scenes, with the accompanying video showing the forward putting in considerable effort during his rehabilitation.
It was one of several updates showing him completing demanding gym exercises as he continues preparing for a return to competitive action.
The 36-year-old clearly has no intention of allowing the injury to derail his season and appears determined to make as much progress as possible before the beginning of the new year.
His continued absence has also provided some breathing room for Peixoto, although the Portuguese manager is still working to win over sections of the Wolves support following his arrival from Gil Vicente to replace Rob Edwards over the summer.
Nevertheless, Wolves are beginning to establish some consistency, making their recent improvement particularly encouraging given that one of their most important attacking options remains unavailable.
