Rangers handed potential weather concern ahead of St Johnstone showdown

Rangers will be determined to get back to winning ways when they welcome St Johnstone to Ibrox on Saturday after dropping points in their latest Scottish Premiership outing.

Derek McInnes’ side were frustrated by a 2-2 draw against Dundee, having let a valuable victory slip away. The result leaves the Gers four points behind Celtic once again as the battle for the Premiership title continues.

Rangers looked to be in control after moving 2-1 ahead, but a mistake from Dan Neil allowed Dundee to find an equaliser and secure a share of the points at Dens Park.

Attention has now turned to Saturday’s meeting with St Johnstone, although the approaching Storm Austen has raised questions about whether the fixture could be affected by adverse weather conditions.

Will Rangers vs St Johnstone be postponed?

At this stage, a postponement appears unlikely, despite forecasts of difficult weather conditions across parts of Scotland.

Storm Austen is expected to bring severe weather to southern England and Wales overnight on Thursday before moving towards the North Sea. Scotland is then forecast to experience the effects of the low-pressure system, with particularly strong winds expected in western areas.

According to BBC Weather, gusts could exceed 70mph in parts of western Scotland, potentially creating travel difficulties and disruption to transport services.

Bridge restrictions and other weather-related delays are also anticipated on 24 October, which could affect supporters travelling to matches across the country.

Meanwhile, the Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for rain covering Glasgow on Friday and Saturday, adding another concern ahead of Rangers’ meeting with St Johnstone.

However, the warning is expected to expire shortly before kick-off at Ibrox. While localised flooding remains a possibility in surrounding areas, the current forecast does not suggest that the match is likely to be postponed.

Rangers supporters will therefore be hoping the weather does not disrupt their plans as McInnes prepares his team for a crucial opportunity to return to winning ways.
