Rangers face potential UEFA punishment after latest match delegate report

Rangers could face fresh UEFA scrutiny after reports emerged that supporters were accused of entering restricted areas during the club’s Europa Conference League defeat to Jablonec.

The Ibrox side suffered a painful exit from Europe after losing on penalties in the Czech Republic, ending their continental campaign in disappointing fashion.

The latest development comes shortly after Rangers and Celtic were both handed sanctions requiring them to play their next home Scottish Cup ties behind closed doors following crowd trouble during last season’s Old Firm quarter-final clash.

According to reports from local authorities in the Czech Republic, the UEFA match delegate flagged incidents involving Rangers supporters during the fixture. Police stated they were informed about alleged unauthorised access to both the pitch and sections designated for home supporters.

Officials also reported that Jablonec fans seized one Rangers banner and damaged three others, with the incident being treated as a breach of regulations.

UEFA has already taken disciplinary action against Rangers earlier this season. The club received a £13,000 fine after a delayed kick-off during their European qualifier against Jagiellonia Bialystok in Poland.

With the delegate’s observations now logged, Rangers may have to wait for UEFA’s assessment before discovering whether any further punishment will follow.
