Rangers agree major Nico Raskin sale ahead of January transfer window
Rangers face major Nico Raskin decision as £15m Beşiktaş deal reportedly agreed
Rangers could be heading towards a significant January transfer decision after reports emerged that Beşiktaş have reached a preliminary agreement to sign Nico Raskin.
The Belgian midfielder attracted interest from several clubs during the summer, with teams in England, Italy, Spain and Turkey reportedly monitoring his situation. Hull City, Atalanta, Bologna and Real Betis were among the sides linked with a move, but Beşiktaş appeared to be the most determined to secure his signature.

The Turkish club made multiple attempts to negotiate a deal, including a reported loan proposal that Rangers rejected. Discussions later turned towards a permanent transfer, although the move ultimately fell apart during the closing stages of the summer window.
The uncertainty surrounding Raskin’s future also affected his involvement with the Ibrox side. He was left out of several squads, including the travelling party for the European fixture against Jablonec and a league encounter with Aberdeen.
Raskin later admitted that the situation had been difficult, explaining that he had been mentally prepared to leave Rangers after learning about Beşiktaş’s interest shortly before a match.
“It is a bit of a disappointment,” the midfielder said.
“Because I was mentally ready to leave.”
He also acknowledged that Rangers remained a good club where he continued to play regularly, while making it clear that he wanted to keep progressing in his career.
Now, reports from Turkey suggest that Beşiktaş have renewed their pursuit and could finally be closing in on an agreement.
According to Fotomaç, citing Turkish newspaper Sabah, the two clubs have reached a preliminary understanding over a January transfer worth approximately £15 million, potentially rising through additional bonuses.
The report further claims that Beşiktaş have convinced Raskin to consider the move, with the midfielder allegedly agreeing to a salary of around £4.3 million per year. An initial protocol could reportedly be signed within weeks, with the formal transfer arrangement to be completed when the January window opens.
Belgium teammate Leandro Trossard is also said to have helped the process. The former Arsenal attacker reportedly spoke positively about Beşiktaş and life in Istanbul after joining the Turkish club during the summer.
However, neither Rangers, Beşiktaş nor Raskin has officially confirmed that an agreement has been reached. The reported fee, salary and proposed timeline therefore remain unverified.
If the claims prove accurate, Rangers will have a difficult decision to make midway through the season.
Raskin remains an important figure in Derek McInnes’ squad, offering energy, aggression and control in midfield. His departure during a title challenge could weaken the team at a crucial stage, particularly if suitable replacements are difficult to secure in January.
The reported £15 million package would nevertheless give Rangers considerable funds to reinvest in the squad. The challenge would be finding a player capable of replacing Raskin’s influence without disrupting the team’s balance.
After failing to complete a deal during the summer, Beşiktaş appear determined to revisit the situation before the next transfer window.
There is no official confirmation yet, but if the Turkish reports are accurate, Rangers could soon face a major call over one of their key midfielders.
