Rangers add two key names to shortlist as four early signings loom
Rangers are prioritising the addition of creativity to their squad this summer, with a potential return for Josh Windassfrom Wrexham AFC emerging as a realistic option, while a highly rated Scandinavian winger is also being tracked.
The Ibrox club are keen to complete their transfer business early after a disappointing end to the season and are already close to sealing a notable double deal. As previously reported, Rangers are nearing agreement on free transfers for Hearts striker Lawrence Shankland and Sunderland midfielder Dan Neil.

However, their recruitment drive is expected to continue beyond those deals, with talks already opened over a possible reunion with Windass. The former Rangers attacker is understood to be open to returning to Glasgow and is particularly keen on working again with head coach Danny Röhl, having previously been coached by him at Sheffield Wednesday.
Sources suggest Windass is enthusiastic about a return to a familiar environment where he previously enjoyed success, while Röhl is also believed to be a strong driving force behind the move. The Rangers boss was reportedly frustrated when a January attempt to sign the player was blocked by Wrexham, but remains hopeful of securing him this time.
Windass is valued for his creativity, goal threat and experience in the Championship, attributes seen as important for improving Rangers’ attacking output and mentality.
Alongside that pursuit, Rangers are also monitoring Djurgårdens IF winger Oskar Fallenius as another key target. The 24-year-old is on their shortlist and has already been approached regarding a possible move to Scotland.
Fallenius is believed to be open to a step up in competition under Röhl, though any deal would depend on negotiations with Djurgården, who are expected to demand a significant fee for one of their promising attackers.
The dual focus reflects Rangers’ transfer strategy of combining proven experience with younger, high-upside talent. With Windass offering immediate impact and Fallenius seen as a longer-term project, both could play important roles if deals are completed.
As Rangers aim to rebuild and compete at the top of Scottish football, the coming weeks are expected to be crucial in shaping their summer window.
