Nottingham Forest beat Norwich City to highly rated Ntege twins

Nottingham Forest are reportedly set to win the race for former Reading academy prospects Joseph Ntege and Jubilee Ntege, leaving Norwich City disappointed after the Canaries also showed interest in the teenage brothers.

The 16-year-old twins, who were raised in Sweden before moving to England, came through Reading’s youth system after the Royals beat several other clubs to their signatures.

Despite their potential, neither player has made a senior appearance yet. However, their impressive performances at academy level have attracted significant attention and could now earn them a move to the Premier League.

Forest edge Norwich in battle for the twins

Forest are understood to have secured an advantage in the race for both youngsters following their departure from Reading earlier this summer.

Norwich were among the clubs attempting to bring the pair to Carrow Road, while Joseph had also attracted interest from Premier League giants Newcastle United and Manchester United because of his performances as a left winger.

Jubilee, meanwhile, had admirers outside England, with Augsburg and Genk also reportedly monitoring his situation.

The twins have developed strong goalscoring records at youth level. Joseph produced 35 goal contributions last season, including 12 for Reading’s Under-18s, while Jubilee recorded 33, with 10 of those coming at Under-18 level.

Their numbers explain why several clubs were keen to secure their services despite their lack of first-team experience.

For Norwich, missing out is frustrating because the club are trying to strengthen their academy and build a stronger pathway towards the senior side. Neither youngster was likely to feature for Philippe Clement’s first team immediately, but both could potentially have developed into senior players over the coming years.

Norwich’s summer recruitment continues

The Canaries have experienced a relatively quiet transfer window compared with some of their Championship rivals but have still made several additions.

Andre Brooks has joined permanently from Sheffield United, while Sam Field has completed a permanent return after initially spending last season at Norwich on loan from QPR.

Bruno Alves has arrived from Brazilian club Cruzeiro on loan, while Darlin Yongwa joined as a free agent.

Norwich still have until September 1 to complete further business, giving the club an opportunity to strengthen both the first team and academy before the transfer window closes.

Youth recruitment remains important for Norwich

Although losing the Ntege twins to Forest represents a setback, the situation underlines how competitive the market for promising young players has become.

Norwich are clearly attempting to identify talented youngsters who could eventually develop into first-team stars, but they face competition from wealthy Premier League clubs and teams across Europe.

The immediate impact of missing out on Joseph and Jubilee will be limited, given their age and lack of senior experience. However, securing players of this profile could become an important part of Norwich’s long-term strategy.

For Forest, meanwhile, adding two highly productive teenagers to their academy could prove a smart investment if the brothers continue their rapid development.
