Nicolas Raskin Ready to Quit Rangers as Champions League Club Plot January Move
Nicolas Raskin Transfer Update as Rangers Face Real Betis January Interest
Rangers midfielder Nicolas Raskin is attracting renewed interest from Spanish side Real Betis ahead of the January transfer window, with the Belgian reportedly open to a move to La Liga.
The 25-year-old appeared increasingly likely to leave Ibrox during the summer after attracting interest from several clubs, including teams in the English Premier League.
Rangers received an offer from Turkish giants Besiktas, but despite initially agreeing personal terms, Raskin ultimately rejected the move as he wanted to wait for an opportunity in one of Europe’s top five leagues.
Derek McInnes has since seen the midfielder rediscover his form, with Raskin getting on the scoresheet during Rangers’ 2-2 draw against Dundee.
However, Real Betis’ continued interest could bring fresh uncertainty over his future, with the January transfer window approaching.
Rangers hold firm over Nicolas Raskin transfer
According to TeamTalk, Real Betis remain interested in signing Raskin and are monitoring the situation ahead of January.
The Spanish club are believed to appeal to the midfielder because of his admiration for La Liga, potentially giving them an advantage over other interested sides.
Raskin had appeared prepared to leave Rangers during the summer, and Betis have reportedly continued to track his situation since then.
Despite that interest, Rangers remain in a strong negotiating position. The Belgium international is under contract at Ibrox until 2028, and the club are understood to value him at around £20million.
So far, no reported offer has matched that valuation, leaving Rangers under little immediate pressure to sanction a departure.
The club’s ownership group, led by Andrew Cavenagh and the 49ers, could nevertheless face a significant decision if a bid close to their asking price arrives.
Selling a key midfielder midway through the season would represent a major decision for McInnes, particularly while Rangers remain involved in the Scottish Premiership title race.
Belgian reports raise fresh questions over Raskin’s future
While Rangers can maintain their position during the January window, reports from Belgium suggest Raskin could eventually move to one of Europe’s leading leagues.
According to the reports cited, the midfielder is unlikely to agree a new contract at Ibrox, potentially leaving Rangers facing a decision over his future next summer.
By that stage, Raskin would have only 12 months remaining on his current deal, which could increase the pressure on the club to consider offers rather than risk losing value as his contract runs down.
That possibility creates a dilemma for Rangers. They could reject January interest and retain an important player for the remainder of the campaign, but doing so may leave them with less negotiating power in the summer.
For Raskin, a move to La Liga would offer the opportunity to test himself in another of Europe’s major leagues after establishing himself at Rangers.
Will Rangers sell Nicolas Raskin in January?
Much will depend on whether Real Betis or another interested club is prepared to meet Rangers’ reported £20million valuation.
The midfielder’s contract situation means Rangers are not obliged to sell in January, and the club could prefer to keep him until the end of the season as they pursue domestic success.
However, if Raskin remains reluctant to extend his deal, the summer window could become a more significant turning point.
For now, there is no confirmed agreement between Rangers and Real Betis, and a January departure remains dependent on the clubs’ positions and any formal offers.
Raskin’s recent return to form will only underline his importance to McInnes, but the growing speculation suggests his long-term future at Ibrox remains unresolved.
