Nacho Novo visits Celta Vigo squad ahead of Celtic clash as former Rangers striker makes Iago Aspas request

Former Rangers striker Nacho Novo made a visit to Celta Vigo’s team hotel in Glasgow ahead of their Europa League encounter with Celtic at Parkhead.

Speaking to Spanish television channel En Xogo outside the hotel, Novo shared his thoughts ahead of the fixture and revealed a cheeky request he planned to make to Celta Vigo forward Iago Aspas.

The former Ibrox player joked that he wanted Aspas to score during the match and hoped to get a signed shirt from the Spanish star.

Novo said: “When I talk to @aspas10 I’m gonna tell him to score and I want that signed jersey”.

Celta Vigo travelled to Glasgow hoping to pick up their first points in the Europa League league phase after losing their opening two matches against Juventus and Omonia.

Celtic were also desperate to get their campaign going, having suffered defeats to Benfica and Ferencvaros in their first two outings.

As a result, both sides entered the contest without a point, making the meeting at Celtic Park an important opportunity to get their European campaigns back on track.
