McCall offers a tough review of Thelo Aasgaard’s showing in Dundee United match
Rangers F.C.’s 4-2 victory over Dundee United sparked plenty of discussion, particularly around Thelo Aasgaard’s performance, which drew criticism from Ian McCall.
The win at Ibrox saw Rangers close the gap to Heart of Midlothian to just one point. Aasgaard did get on the scoresheet, making it 3-1 early in the second half after finishing from close range following a delivery from Djeidi Gassama.

Despite the goal, McCall was unimpressed with the midfielder’s overall display. Speaking on Open Goal, he gave a blunt assessment, stating that Aasgaard “wasn’t great” and criticising his set-piece delivery in particular.
Manager Danny Röhl showed faith in the 23-year-old by starting him, though it’s suggested that decision may have been influenced by recent circumstances, including the international break.
While opinions on Aasgaard’s performance remain mixed, his goal proved important, and he could still play a key role in the closing stages of the season.
McCall also commented on teammate Mikey Moore, noting a slow start but praising his willingness to run at defenders and take risks on the ball.
Meanwhile, Andreas Skov Olsen continues to face scrutiny despite contributing an assist for Dujon Sterling’s goal. The winger, reportedly linked with a significant transfer clause, has yet to fully convince, with concerns over his impact and style of play.
Although Aasgaard has had a challenging time since arriving in Glasgow, some may feel he has been unfairly targeted. However, if he contributes to a potential title success, criticism is likely to fade quickly.
