Major transfer boost for Rangers F.C. as ‘talented’ striker move edges closer
Rangers F.C. are reportedly stepping up efforts to secure a major summer signing, with fresh claims suggesting the club hope to finalise a deal for Lawrence Shankland within the next 48 hours.
The experienced striker has once again been heavily linked with a move to Ibrox after another impressive season for Heart of Midlothian F.C.. Shankland came agonisingly close to lifting the Premiership title as captain last weekend before Hearts suffered defeat on the final day, allowing Celtic to secure the championship.

Since arriving at Tynecastle in 2022 following a spell in Belgium with K Beerschot VA, the 30-year-old has established himself as one of the Scottish Premiership’s most reliable forwards. Across 171 appearances for Hearts, Shankland has produced an impressive return of 88 goals and 29 assists, becoming a key figure both on and off the pitch.
Speculation surrounding a move to Rangers is nothing new. The striker was strongly linked with the Glasgow club last summer when he was approaching the end of his contract, although he ultimately chose to remain in Edinburgh and commit his future to Hearts. Despite the Jambos finishing above Danny Röhl’s Rangers side in the 2025/26 campaign, reports now suggest the Ibrox hierarchy are preparing a serious attempt to land their long-term target.
According to fresh claims, Shankland has emerged as one of manager Danny Röhl’s priority transfer targets ahead of the new season. Rangers are reportedly eager to move quickly in order to complete negotiations before the Scotland international departs for the World Cup.
The reports also suggest that Shankland’s personal connection to Rangers could play a significant role in the negotiations, with the striker understood to be a lifelong supporter of the club. Rangers previously passed on the opportunity to sign him on a free transfer when he became available 12 months ago, but discussions are now believed to be progressing as the player edges closer to a potential switch to his boyhood team.
Shankland previously addressed speculation about his future during last summer’s transfer saga, explaining that communication between himself and Hearts remained open throughout the process. He stressed the importance of honesty regarding his situation and suggested both sides maintained a positive relationship while evaluating how events unfolded.
With transfer rumours intensifying once again, attention will now turn to whether Rangers can finally complete a move for one of Scotland’s most prolific forwards after months of speculation.
