Youssef Chermiti came under criticism after a puzzling moment during Rangers’ 3-2 defeat to Motherwell, with Peter Løvenkrands questioning the striker’s decision-making.

After scoring early in the second half to make it 2-1, Chermiti was later involved in an incident with Stephen Welsh during a Rangers counter-attack.

While the ball remained in play and Rangers pushed forward, the Portuguese forward chose to turn back and exchange words with Welsh, who was on the ground, rather than join the attack.

Speaking on BBC Sportsound, Løvenkrands admitted he was baffled by the decision, stressing that a striker should prioritise goal-scoring opportunities instead of engaging in off-the-ball disputes.

Despite registering a goal and an assist, Chermiti’s performance was mixed as Rangers fell short at Ibrox. With crucial fixtures ahead, including a clash with Hearts, Danny Röhl will be hoping for more focus from his forward.
