Liam Scales has broken his silence on the disruption aftermath at Celtic Park following Hearts defeat in the title race
Callum Osmand’s stoppage-time winner secured a dramatic 3-1 victory for Martin O’Neill’s side and sparked emotional celebrations inside the stadium, as jubilant supporters poured onto the pitch moments after the final whistle.
However, the celebrations quickly turned controversial after Heart of Midlothian F.C. later alleged that some of their players and staff were intimidated and accosted amid the post-match disorder, prompting the Edinburgh club to leave the stadium swiftly and return home immediately after full-time.

Celtic F.C. have since condemned any unacceptable conduct in an official statement, issuing an apology to Hearts while confirming their intention to fully cooperate with any investigation into the incident.
Meanwhile, Police Scotland have acknowledged the complaints and confirmed that enquiries remain ongoing, with the Scottish Professional Football League also expected to review the chaotic scenes.
Speaking after the match, defender Liam Scales admitted the aftermath felt like “carnage” from a player’s perspective as celebrations spiralled beyond control. Scales explained that the overwhelming joy of sealing the title quickly gave way to confusion once fans began entering the pitch, admitting there was uncertainty among players about whether the game had even officially ended.
Despite the disorder, he described the atmosphere as emotional and unforgettable, insisting he personally did not witness anything that crossed the line.
Scales also expressed sympathy for Hearts, acknowledging the effort they put into one of the tightest title races in recent years.
He praised the Edinburgh side for their consistency and quality throughout the campaign, admitting they would understandably feel unfortunate after spending large parts of the season at the top of the table. However, he backed Hearts to recover strongly and predicted another fierce battle next season.
The dramatic late victory ultimately secured Celtic’s fifth consecutive Scottish Premiership title after Hearts had looked set to spoil the celebrations for long periods of the contest, particularly following Lawrence Shankland’s first-half opener.
