Jude Bellingham explains reason behind return to Birmingham City F.C.
Jude Bellingham rose through the academy ranks at Birmingham City F.C. before going on to establish himself as one of the biggest names in world football with Real Madrid C.F..
He made history at just 16 by becoming Birmingham’s youngest-ever first-team player, and after only one season, he secured a high-profile move to Borussia Dortmund in a deal worth around £22.75 million.

His reputation soared in Germany, where he played a key role in helping Dortmund reach the Champions League final in 2023, while also finishing as Bundesliga runners-up for three consecutive seasons.
That impressive form earned him a blockbuster transfer to Real Madrid, with the deal ultimately valued at £115 million. During his time in Spain, Bellingham has continued to shine, winning major honours including La Liga, the Champions League, the UEFA Super Cup, and the Supercopa de España.
Despite his success abroad, Bellingham has now made a return to Birmingham in a different capacity, investing in the cricket franchise Birmingham Phoenix. The midfielder has purchased a 1.2 percent stake in the team, in a deal believed to be worth close to £1 million.
Bellingham explained that his passion for cricket played a major role in the decision, revealing that he often follows the sport in his spare time, particularly enjoying Test matches. He also highlighted his deep connection to Birmingham, expressing gratitude to the city for helping shape his career, while jokingly referencing his loyalty in the local rivalry.
For Bellingham, the move represents both a personal interest and a way of giving back to a city that played a crucial role in his rise to the top of the game.
