Ipswich Town F.C. promotion: Luke Woolfenden’s emotional response revealed
Former Ipswich Town F.C. defender Luke Woolfenden has shared his reaction after watching his former club secure promotion—joining his current side, Coventry City F.C., in the Premier League next season.
Ipswich left little to chance on the final day, racing into a two-goal lead inside the opening ten minutes before comfortably sealing a 3-0 victory over Queens Park Rangers F.C.. The result confirmed their immediate return to the top flight, sparking celebrations that included jubilant scenes on the pitch at full-time.

After the match, the club’s social media channels were flooded with messages, including a notable response from Woolfenden, who showed his delight with a string of celebratory emojis—highlighting his continued affection for his former team.
Now 27, Woolfenden’s ties to Ipswich run deep. He joined the club’s academy at a young age and progressed through the ranks, making his senior debut in 2017. Over the next eight years, he made more than 200 appearances and played a key role during a transformative period that saw the club rise from League One back to the Premier League.
Having moved to Coventry last summer, Woolfenden now finds himself celebrating promotion on two fronts, with both his former and current clubs set to compete in the top flight next season.
His reaction underlines a lasting connection to Ipswich, showing that despite his move away, his roots at Portman Road remain strong.
