Henrik Pedersen’s wife makes Sheffield Wednesday admission as supporters respond
Henrik Pedersen’s wife, Isabella Holmgaard Pedersen, has shared an emotional message following her husband’s departure from Sheffield Wednesday, prompting a reaction from supporters.
The Owls confirmed on Sunday that Pedersen would leave his position after a difficult spell in charge, bringing his 15-month association with the club to an end.
Sheffield Wednesday part ways with Henrik Pedersen after difficult run
Pedersen initially joined Wednesday as assistant manager to Danny Röhl before being promoted to head coach last summer when the German departed shortly before the start of the campaign.
The Dane inherited a challenging situation at Hillsborough as the club experienced significant financial and ownership problems under former chairman Dejphon Chansiri.
Results proved difficult to come by during his first season in charge, with Wednesday winning just twice in 50 matches across all competitions as they suffered relegation from the Championship.
Despite those struggles, new owner David Storch decided to retain Pedersen after completing his takeover earlier this year and supported him with 18 new additions during the summer transfer window.
Wednesday initially enjoyed an encouraging start to their League One campaign, winning four of their opening five matches. However, their form deteriorated in recent weeks, with consecutive defeats against Notts County and Doncaster Rovers proving costly.
Pedersen was subsequently relieved of his duties, leaving the Owls eighth in the table and just two points outside the play-off positions.
Former Stockport County boss Dave Challinor and Hull City assistant head coach Dean Holden have reportedly emerged as potential candidates to take over at Hillsborough. Paul Heckingbottom, meanwhile, has been ruled out of contention despite speculation linking him with the vacancy.
Henrik Pedersen’s wife shares heartfelt Sheffield Wednesday message
While Pedersen has yet to publicly comment on his departure, his wife Isabella has taken to social media to reflect on their family’s time at Sheffield Wednesday.
She shared a photograph of herself alongside her husband following the club’s impressive 5-0 victory over AFC Wimbledon earlier this month, describing it as their final photograph together at Hillsborough.
“These smiles after a 5-0 win at Hillsborough, at our last home game, would become the last photo of Henrik and me at Hillsborough,” Isabella wrote.
She went on to thank the club’s supporters for the atmosphere they created at home and away matches, highlighting the memories her family had made throughout their time associated with Wednesday.
Isabella also expressed her gratitude to the players, their families, the coaching staff and everyone who had contributed to their experience at the club.
Reflecting on the impact of their time in Sheffield, she explained that the experience had helped shape their family and created memories they would treasure for years to come.
She also acknowledged the messages, telephone calls and kind words they had received following Pedersen’s dismissal, saying they could feel the support coming from those around them.
Her message ended with a simple but emotional statement: “We’ll keep singing.”
The tribute has offered a personal glimpse into the family’s connection with Sheffield Wednesday, even as the club prepares for another managerial change.
