Green Brigade accuse Celtic of fresh bans amid furious statement

The Green Brigade has launched a fresh attack on the Celtic board after claiming two of its members have once again been banned by the club.

In a strongly-worded statement, the ultras group accused Celtic of acting on what they described as “vexatious” allegations, reigniting tensions between supporters and the club hierarchy just weeks after hundreds of fans returned from a lengthy suspension.

The Green Brigade pointed to their recent return following what they called an “unjustified” five-month, 32-match ban, arguing that the atmosphere created by supporters played a key role in helping the team achieve a memorable domestic double.

The group claimed there had been a renewed sense of unity between fans, players and management during the final weeks of the season — something they now fear is under threat again.

According to the statement, frustration stems from Celtic allegedly informing two members less than 24 hours before the season ticket renewal deadline that they would be unable to renew while awaiting a disciplinary process.

The Green Brigade branded the timing “cynical”, arguing the concerns relate to a conversation involving club representative Mark Hargreaves at the Celtic AGM more than six months ago.

The supporters’ group also questioned the credibility of the allegations, noting that both individuals had previously been reinstated alongside other banned supporters.

The statement further suggested the two members are well known within Celtic circles through years of fan representation, with one described as influential in the development of the Celtic Fans Collective and the other recognised for advocating Palestine solidarity among supporters.

The Green Brigade claimed these causes have often put them at odds with the club’s leadership and directly criticised senior figures including Michael Nicholson, Chris McKay and Hargreaves.

While insisting they support fair and transparent disciplinary procedures when genuine concerns exist, the group argued this latest move is “another cynical and vindictive exercise” and warned it risks reopening divisions around the club.

The situation is likely to intensify scrutiny on relations between Celtic and one of the club’s most prominent supporter groups as tensions flare once again.
