Frank Lampard to Crystal Palace: latest Coventry City stance amid mounting pressure
Frank Lampard is now expected to remain at Coventry City ahead of next season despite continued interest from Crystal Palace over a potential move to Selhurst Park.
The Eagles are believed to be admirers of the Coventry boss and had explored the possibility of bringing him in as part of their search for a successor to Oliver Glasner. However, any attempt to prise Lampard away from the CBS Arena appears increasingly unlikely due to the financial obstacles involved and Coventry’s determination to keep hold of their manager.

A significant release clause in Lampard’s contract has emerged as a major stumbling block, with Coventry making it clear they are not prepared to part ways with the former Chelsea and England midfielder this summer.
Instead, the Sky Blues are pushing forward with plans for the transfer window and are keen to back Lampard as they prepare for another important campaign.
Interest from Crystal Palace came as little surprise given the progress Coventry have made under Lampard’s leadership. Since arriving at the club, he has earned praise for both performances and results, with Coventry playing an attractive style of football while establishing themselves as one of the Championship’s strongest sides.
Those improvements naturally placed Lampard on Palace’s shortlist as they considered candidates capable of maintaining the standards set during Glasner’s successful spell at Selhurst Park.
However, while Palace held the Coventry manager in high regard, reports suggest other names have now moved ahead in the club’s thinking as they edge closer to appointing a new boss.
Coventry, meanwhile, are growing increasingly confident that Lampard will stay put and continue the project he has built at the CBS Arena.
Sources close to the situation indicated as far back as April that Coventry had no intention of allowing their head coach to leave and would strongly resist any approach.
Given the cost of activating his release clause and the club’s firm stance, Palace are now expected to focus their attention elsewhere.
Replacing Glasner remains a major task for the Eagles following a hugely successful period that reportedly delivered multiple trophies and elevated expectations around the club.
While Palace continue to assess alternatives, Coventry appear well placed to retain one of their most influential figures heading into a pivotal summer.
