Five top Southampton stars who could be sold out after ‘Spygate’ scandal
Southampton’s removal from the Championship play-off final could have consequences stretching far beyond missing out on Premier League promotion money, with reports suggesting growing frustration inside the dressing room.
Following the fallout from the club’s involvement in the ongoing ‘Spygate’ controversy, Southampton players are believed to have held discussions with CEO Phil Parsons on Wednesday, with several reportedly angered by the club’s conduct. Amid speculation over possible legal action and internal unrest, a number of key players could now look to secure moves away from St Mary’s during the summer transfer window.

Here are five standout Southampton players who may attract serious transfer interest in the coming months.
Taylor Harwood-Bellis
Despite becoming the subject of online jokes following Southampton’s expulsion, Harwood-Bellis remains one of the Championship’s brightest young defenders. The centre-back previously attracted interest from clubs including West Ham United F.C. and Burnley F.C. during January, while recent speculation has linked him with a move to Everton F.C.. Southampton may be open to offers in the region of £20 million.
Finn Azaz
Azaz has emerged as one of Southampton’s standout performers this season, contributing 10 goals and seven assists in the Championship despite the controversy threatening to overshadow his campaign. His displays have reportedly attracted Premier League attention, with Leeds United F.C. among the clubs linked with a potential move. Southampton could reportedly demand between £12m and £15m for the midfielder.
Leo Scienza
One of the few Southampton players to publicly react to the scandal, Scienza described the situation as “heart-breaking” and suggested supporters deserved more from the club. The Brazilian, who contributed seven goals and nine assists while earning Player of the Season recognition, was already attracting transfer interest before the controversy unfolded. Clubs reportedly monitoring his situation include Aston Villa F.C., Tottenham Hotspur F.C. and Everton, while teams in Italy such as Atalanta BC and AS Roma have also been linked. A return to Brazil could also emerge, with interest reportedly coming from Palmeiras and CR Flamengo. Although Southampton may have valued him at around £25 million, that figure could now be reduced.
Shea Charles
Charles boosted his reputation significantly after scoring the winning goal against Arsenal F.C. in the FA Cup, and the midfielder is believed to have drawn interest from multiple Premier League sides ahead of the transfer window.
Casper Jander
Jander has been tipped for a move away from Southampton since February, but the uncertainty created by the ‘Spygate’ scandal may accelerate plans for a departure. The 23-year-old is expected to remain a sought-after option if Southampton face a squad reshuffle this summer.
