Danny Röhl pushes Rangers to sign Birmingham City linked standout

Rangers’ summer rebuild is starting to gather momentum as Danny Röhl and the club’s recruitment staff intensify plans for what is shaping up to be a pivotal transfer window at Ibrox.

Following a disappointing season that ended without silverware, major changes are expected behind the scenes and within the squad. Chairman Andrew Cavenagh has already promised a “summer of substantial change”, while Röhl has openly acknowledged the need for stronger leadership and increased quality across the team.

The arrival of Lawrence Shankland has already bolstered Rangers’ attacking options, but the Scotland international may not be the final addition up front.

Several names continue to be linked with a move to Ibrox. Leeds United forward Joe Gelhardt remains on Rangers’ radar as uncertainty surrounds his future at Elland Road, despite impressing during a spell away from the club.

Reports have also linked Rangers with Tottenham youngster Mikey Moore after previously working under Röhl, while the Gers are believed to be tracking several emerging talents as part of a broader recruitment strategy.

However, another familiar name has now entered the conversation.

According to transfer reporter Graeme Bailey, Röhl is personally keen for Rangers to pursue Leeds United striker Joel Piroe, believing the Dutchman would significantly strengthen his squad.

Piroe has established himself as one of the Championship’s most dependable goalscorers in recent years, delivering consistently for both Swansea City and Leeds. His record of 73 goals in 179 second-tier appearances highlights the kind of cutting edge Rangers have lacked at times.

While Shankland has already arrived, Röhl is reportedly eager to add more firepower, suggesting the Rangers boss views Piroe as a key option to improve competition in attacking areas.

Rangers struggled for consistency in front of goal during crucial moments last season, and the addition of another experienced finisher could help solve that problem.

At 26, Piroe would also arrive at Ibrox in the prime years of his career. Unlike some younger prospects linked with the club, the Leeds striker would be expected to make an immediate impact rather than represent a long-term project.
