Celtic issue Martin O’Neill health update after hospital procedure
Celtic have confirmed that manager Martin O’Neill is recovering in hospital after undergoing what the club described as a “small procedure.”
The Hoops expect the experienced boss to be discharged within the next couple of days, although no further details have been provided regarding the nature of the procedure.

In a statement, Celtic said: “In response to speculation, we can confirm that Martin O’Neill has undergone a small procedure in hospital. We would envisage Martin being released from hospital in the next day or two and, on behalf of Martin, we would like to thank supporters for their kind wishes. We would ask that the privacy of Martin and his family is respected.”
It remains unclear whether the 74-year-old will be on the touchline for Sunday’s Scottish Premiership meeting with Kilmarnock.
O’Neill returned to the Celtic dugout twice during last season, initially stepping in following Brendan Rodgers’ departure before later taking charge again after Wilfried Nancy’s spell in charge came to an end.
His second stint proved highly successful as he guided Celtic to a domestic double, overturning Hearts’ advantage at the top of the table before sealing a fifth consecutive Scottish Premiership title with a dramatic final-day triumph.
