Big Bristol City development emerges amid Michael Skubala links
Michael Skubala had looked set to remain at Lincoln City F.C. and sign a new contract, but a dramatic late twist has put his future back in doubt amid renewed interest from Bristol City F.C..
After leading Lincoln to a historic promotion in 2026, Skubala emerged as one of Bristol City’s top managerial targets following the dismissal of Gerhard Struber. Veteran boss Roy Hodgson stepped in on an interim basis to finish the season, but the Robins have continued their search for a long-term appointment.
For a time, it appeared Skubala would stay at the LNER Stadium after agreeing fresh terms, a move that would reportedly have increased the compensation fee required to prise him away to more than £1 million.

However, speculation over a switch to Ashton Gate has refused to disappear. Following Bournemouth coach Tommy Elphick turning down the Bristol City role, attention has quickly shifted back toward Skubala.
Recent reports now suggest the 43-year-old is on the verge of a surprise change of heart and could leave Lincoln shortly after guiding the club to promotion from League One.
Bristol City are believed to be close to appointing Skubala as their new head coach, with negotiations progressing towards an agreement on a three-year contract.
A key factor in the move could be the arrival of new sporting director James Ellis, who reportedly shares a strong working relationship with Skubala dating back to their time connected with Loughborough University.
After looking destined to stay in Lincolnshire, Skubala may now be preparing for a fresh Championship challenge in Bristol.
