Fer Lopez delivers classy response to Sean Neave’s match-winning display
Wolverhampton Wanderers headed into Wednesday evening’s meeting with Bristol City in encouraging form, having picked up three victories from their previous four outings. However, their positive momentum was under threat when Scott Twine produced a superb free-kick to give Michael Skubala’s team the lead after 34 minutes at Ashton Gate.
Despite Wolves enjoying much of the possession and controlling large periods of the contest, it looked increasingly unlikely that Cesar Peixoto’s men would leave Bristol with anything to show for their efforts.

That situation changed when 19-year-old Sean Neave was brought on with 17 minutes remaining. The youngster needed just nine minutes to make his mark, finding the net from close range after Bradley Collins directed Adam Armstrong’s effort into his path.
Having registered his first senior goal, Neave was far from finished. The teenage striker then rose to meet Kieran Trippier’s free-kick in the final minute of normal time, heading home to complete a remarkable turnaround and secure all three points for Wolves.
The victory also lifted the Old Gold and Black into the Championship’s automatic promotion positions.
Fer Lopez sends four-word message to Sean Neave after Wolves heroics
Following a difficult spell that had seen sections of the Wolves fanbase question Peixoto’s position, the club’s recent performances have started to restore confidence among supporters.
The Portuguese manager’s team have demonstrated their attacking quality throughout the campaign, scoring 25 goals from different sources. Fer Lopez has been particularly influential, contributing six goals in 13 appearances.
The Spaniard, however, was unable to produce his usual attacking influence against Bristol City. His withdrawal late in the contest ultimately proved to be an inspired decision, as replacement Neave delivered two decisive moments to turn the game around.
There are already signs of a positive relationship developing between the two attacking players, with Lopez quick to celebrate his young teammate’s outstanding contribution.
Taking to Instagram from the dressing room at Ashton Gate, the Wolves forward shared a photograph alongside Neave and accompanied it with a four-word message: “Come on my kid.”
He also added three hearts in Wolves colours, showing his delight at the teenager’s memorable contribution to an important victory for the club.
