Latte Lath opens up on his experience working under Michael Carrick
Latte Lath reveals one issue he had with Michael Carrick at Middlesbrough
Former Middlesbrough striker Emmanuel Latte Lath has offered an insight into Michael Carrick’s management style, admitting that the former Boro boss could sometimes be too calm during his time at the Riverside Stadium.
According to the BBC, Latte Lath discussed his career journey and reflected on his spell on Teesside, where he played under Carrick before leaving for a new challenge in the United States.
The 27-year-old is currently playing in Germany with Union Berlin, having joined the Bundesliga club on loan. He has scored once in six appearances for the side so far.

Latte Lath initially left Middlesbrough to join MLS outfit Atlanta United, with the move bringing an end to his time at the Riverside. However, his return to European football has put his career path back in the spotlight, particularly given the success he enjoyed during his spell in the Championship.
His latest comments also offer a glimpse into what it was like working under Carrick, who managed Middlesbrough during the striker’s time at the club and is now facing intense scrutiny in his role as Manchester United manager.
How Latte Lath’s Middlesbrough spell unfolded
Latte Lath arrived at Middlesbrough in the summer of 2023, signing from Italian club Atalanta on a four-year contract, with the option of an additional year.
He made an immediate impression during his first season in English football, scoring 16 goals in 30 appearances. Despite his contribution, Middlesbrough narrowly missed out on a place in the Championship play-offs under Carrick.
The striker continued to contribute in his second campaign, scoring 11 goals before the turn of the year. However, he eventually opted to leave Teesside and pursue an opportunity in Major League Soccer.
Atlanta United secured his services in a deal reportedly worth £22.5 million, providing Middlesbrough with a significant transfer fee.
Latte Lath’s subsequent move back to European football with Union Berlin has added another chapter to his career, while his reflections on Carrick provide a fresh perspective on the manager’s approach during their time together at Middlesbrough.
