Tonda Eckert makes dramatic statement after Watford’s Defeat to Southampton
Tonda Eckert reacts after Southampton’s 2–1 defeat at Watford
Southampton head coach Tonda Eckert admitted he was disappointed with the result after his side suffered a 2–1 defeat to Watford, despite believing the Saints produced enough opportunities to change the outcome.
Eckert felt Southampton made a promising start to the match but were punished after giving the ball away in possession, allowing Watford to take advantage with their first significant opportunity.
Despite falling behind, the manager was encouraged by his team’s response and felt there were plenty of positive moments throughout the 90 minutes.
While Southampton ultimately failed to secure the result they were looking for, Eckert believes his side created enough chances and showed sufficient character to have turned the match in their favour.
The defeat leaves Southampton needing to respond quickly, with three consecutive home fixtures now providing an opportunity to recover points.
Eckert’s message was clear: the disappointment of the Watford loss must be put aside, with Southampton now focused on making the most of their upcoming home run and getting their campaign back on track.
