Sunderland’s Wilson Isidor Wants Major Pay Rise as West Ham and Ipswich Monitor Situation

Sunderland striker Wilson Isidor is reportedly open to remaining at the Stadium of Light, despite growing interest from clubs including West Ham United, Ipswich Town and Hull City.

According to Alan Nixon, Isidor would prefer to stay on Wearside but is seeking a significant improvement to his current contract. The Haiti international is reportedly looking to double his existing wages as he considers his future with Sunderland.

West Ham are believed to be among the clubs interested in the 25-year-old, while Ipswich and Hull are also monitoring his availability. The three clubs are preparing for their respective campaigns, with West Ham viewed as one of the leading contenders for promotion.

The Hammers have already made a major statement in the transfer market by signing Belgian midfielder Arne Engels from Celtic for a reported £22 million, setting a new Championship transfer record.

Isidor has been identified as another potential attacking addition, alongside AZ Alkmaar striker Troy Parrott, as West Ham continue to strengthen their squad.

West Ham face competition for Isidor

Isidor’s future has been uncertain since returning to Sunderland following the 2026 World Cup, where he represented Haiti against Scotland, Brazil and Morocco.

His opportunities as a starter were reduced last season following the arrival of Dutch striker Brian Brobbey. Despite that, Isidor still featured in 32 of Sunderland’s 38 Premier League fixtures and scored six goals.

aThe forward has subsequently attracted interest from West Ham, Ipswich and Hull. Earlier reports suggested West Ham could be prepared to make the biggest offer, while Ipswich had reportedly submitted a £14 million bid and Hull valued the player at around £12 million.

However, Nixon’s latest update has added another dimension to the situation, with Isidor apparently keen to remain at Sunderland if the club agrees to substantially increase his salary.

The striker has another reason to stay, with Sunderland having secured European football after qualifying for the Europa League at the end of last season.

Isidor could still leave before the deadline

Although Isidor does not appear to be pushing for a move, the situation could change before the September 1 transfer deadline.

Sunderland are continuing to explore options for strengthening their attack and have been linked with Bayer Leverkusen forward Ernest Poku. While reports suggest the Black Cats have yet to make a formal move, the arrival of another attacking player could potentially make Isidor’s departure more likely.

The club have also recently sold Eliezer Mayenda to Rennes, leaving Sunderland with decisions to make regarding the balance of their attacking options.

Isidor was involved in Sunderland’s final pre-season fixture against Rennes, further highlighting that he remains part of the club’s plans for now.

Isidor could strengthen West Ham’s attacking options

For West Ham, signing Isidor would provide another dangerous option in an already impressive attacking unit.

The Hammers have ambitions of returning to the Premier League immediately, and the arrival of Engels has added further quality to an attacking group that already includes several talented players.

Isidor could provide competition for Taty Castellanos, who made a positive impact after joining West Ham in January. Castellanos scored six Premier League goals, although his efforts were not enough to prevent relegation.

Isidor also has a proven record from Sunderland’s promotion campaign. During the 2024-25 Championship season, he scored 12 goals in 43 appearances, including 34 starts, while also registering two assists.

His performances played an important role in Sunderland’s successful promotion push, and his versatility and physical qualities could make him an attractive option for a West Ham side targeting an immediate return to the top flight.
