Middlesbrough eye move for Jordan James after impressive Leicester loan

Middlesbrough are among the Championship clubs interested in signing Rennes midfielder Jordan James following an outstanding loan campaign with Leicester City last season.

The 22-year-old made a major impact during his time at the King Power Stadium, registering 11 goals and four assists in 34 appearances despite Leicester ultimately suffering relegation. James developed through Birmingham City’s academy before moving to French side Rennes. James’ reported £10m valuation could make him one of the more appealing midfielders available on the market.

His Leicester performances demonstrated that he can influence games in the Championship while still possessing plenty of room for development at only 22.

That combination could attract Premier League clubs as well as ambitious Championship teams. A club that secures his signature now could potentially develop him into a dependable top-flight midfielder in the future.

For Middlesbrough, James would complement Morris and Berhalter while giving Hellberg a more athletic and attack-minded option in the middle of the pitch.
