Portsmouth Close In on Abu Kamara Following Agreement with Hull City

Portsmouth are closing in on the return of Abu Kamara after reaching an agreement with Hull City over a transfer fee for the winger.

The two clubs are now working to finalise the remaining details of the deal, which would see the 23-year-old make a second spell at Fratton Park after his successful loan stint with the club.

Kamara enjoyed an outstanding 2023/24 campaign with Portsmouth, scoring 10 goals in 52 appearances as he played a key role in the club’s League One title-winning season and promotion back to the Championship. His performances quickly made him a fan favourite during his time on the south coast.

Last season proved far less productive for the winger. After returning to Hull City, he managed five goals in 37 matches before spending the second half of the campaign on loan at Spanish side Getafe.

His spell in La Liga failed to deliver the expected progress, with just one league start and only 248 minutes of first-team action across 13 appearances.

Should the transfer be completed, Kamara would become Portsmouth’s seventh signing of the summer as John Mousinho continues to strengthen his squad ahead of the new Championship season.

The Pompey boss will be hoping a familiar environment can help the attacker rediscover the form that made him one of the division’s standout performers two seasons ago. Having previously helped Kamara thrive at Fratton Park, Mousinho will be confident the winger can once again make a significant impact.

Meanwhile, Hull City are expected to remain active in the transfer market despite Kamara’s likely departure.

According to Football Insider, the Tigers are among the clubs interested in signing Crystal Palace midfielder David Ozoh on a permanent deal this summer.

Hull face competition from Derby County, FC Köln and Marseille for the highly rated youngster, while Crystal Palace are reportedly open to selling if a suitable offer is received.

Whether Hull can secure Ozoh’s signature remains uncertain, but the club are expected to continue adding to their squad as they prepare for the challenges of the new campaign.
