Tottenham Wonderkid, 18, Set for Championship Move After Agreement Reached

Lincoln City are on the verge of completing a loan deal for Tottenham Hotspur forward Mason Melia, with the Championship newcomers expected to finalise the transfer before the start of the new season.

According to Football Insider, the two clubs have reached an agreement for the 18-year-old to spend the 2026/27 campaign at the LNER Stadium.

The move could be completed within the next couple of days, with only the remaining formalities, including a medical, still to be concluded.

Melia has attracted widespread interest during the current transfer window after emerging as one of Tottenham’s most exciting young prospects.

The Republic of Ireland striker has reportedly generated more than 30 loan enquiries from clubs in the Championship and across Europe, but Lincoln have moved quickest and now look set to win the race for his signature.

Before earning his move to North London, Melia enjoyed an impressive spell with St. Patrick’s Athletic. Despite his age, he featured 98 times for the Irish club and found the net on 25 occasions, establishing himself as one of the country’s standout teenage talents.

Tottenham remain convinced that Melia has a bright future at the club, which is reflected in the long-term contract that keeps him tied to Spurs until 2031. Rather than integrating him immediately into the senior squad, the Premier League side believe a season of regular football in the Championship will accelerate his development.

The proposed loan also fits Tottenham’s transfer plans as the club continue searching for an experienced striker to strengthen Roberto De Zerbi’s attacking options before the window shuts. With established forwards already competing for places, consistent first-team opportunities for Melia would likely have been limited.

For Lincoln City, adding firepower has been a key objective following promotion to the Championship. Head coaches Chris Cohen and Tom Shaw have identified Melia as a player capable of making an immediate impact, and the club are now close to securing one of the most highly regarded young strikers available this summer.
