Amanda Staveley breaks silence on potential West Ham United takeover
Major changes have already taken place at West Ham United this summer, but more developments could still be on the horizon before the new Championship campaign begins.
Following the club’s relegation from the Premier League, long-serving figure David Sullivan stepped away from his duties as joint chairman and director amid allegations surrounding his conduct. Despite his exit from those roles, he remains the club’s majority shareholder.

In the aftermath, Daniel Křetínský has strengthened his position by increasing his stake, making him the largest shareholder at the London club. The Czech businessman is already said to be considering bold changes, including plans to remove the running track at the London Stadium.
Amid the off-field shake-up, speculation continues to grow around Amanda Staveley and a possible move for the Hammers. Staveley, well known for her role in major football takeovers involving Manchester City and Newcastle United, has now addressed the rumours herself.
Speaking to the media, she was asked directly about a possible West Ham bid and offered a response that did little to quiet the talk.
“Maybe. I don’t know,” she said.
Staveley went on to explain that she and her husband are drawn to projects where they can help rebuild struggling clubs and restore them to stronger positions.
Her comments have naturally sparked interest among West Ham supporters, especially given the club’s current situation and the potential for fresh investment.
Known for connecting wealthy backers rather than funding deals entirely from her own pocket, Staveley could bring significant financial backing if she were to make a move. That could open the door for stronger transfer spending, stadium improvements, and wider commercial opportunities.
With London-based clubs increasingly maximizing stadium revenue in innovative ways, West Ham’s large venue remains a major asset that many believe has untapped potential.
At the same time, recruitment remains one of the club’s biggest concerns. While there have been some successes in recent years, costly mistakes in the transfer market have also held them back. For many fans, a new approach could be key to rebuilding and returning to the Premier League quickly.
