Rangers close in on deal as personal terms expected to be agreed for Blackburn star
Rangers have reportedly been handed an early boost in their search for defensive reinforcements, with Blackburn Rovers prepared to sanction the sale of a highly-rated full-back this summer for the right price.
After securing the signing of Lawrence Shankland in a move that dealt a significant blow to Hearts, Rangers are now focusing on strengthening other areas of the squad under Danny Rohl. Shankland is expected to provide a major attacking lift at Ibrox, but attention is already turning toward replacing long-serving captain James Tavernier.

Tavernier recently brought the curtain down on an impressive 11-year spell at Rangers. Despite reports of tension with Rohl threatening to overshadow his departure, the defender leaves behind a lasting legacy at the club.

Finding a suitable successor has quickly become a priority. While Bryan Reynolds has been strongly linked with a switch to Ibrox, another option appears to be gaining momentum.
According to reports, Rangers are preparing a bid for Blackburn Rovers defender Ryan Alebiosu, with the English club willing to approve a transfer worth around £5 million.
The Gers are believed to be confident there will be little difficulty in agreeing personal terms with the right-back, while Blackburn’s asking price is not expected to present a problem for the club’s new ownership.
Alebiosu’s pace is viewed as one of his standout qualities, with the 24-year-old reportedly reaching a top speed of 37 km/h last season — a figure that places him among Europe’s fastest players.
