Breaking news: Rangers could seal move for “dynamic” star with £4.3m offer
Glasgow Rangers kicked off their summer transfer business at the end of last month by completing the signing of Lawrence Shankland on a permanent deal.
The Scotland international made the switch from Hearts after helping drive the Edinburgh side to a second-place finish in the Scottish Premiership, netting 16 league goals during the 2025/26 campaign as Hearts narrowly missed out on the title on the final day.

Now at Ibrox, Shankland will be aiming to go one step further under Danny Rohl, using his proven goalscoring pedigree and experience in Scottish football to help Rangers challenge for the Premiership crown.
However, the striker may not be the only domestic arrival this summer, with Rangers also heavily linked to Dundee defender Luke Graham as the club looks to reinforce its backline.
The left-footed centre-back has emerged as a potential target following the departure of Nasser Djiga, whose loan spell from Wolverhampton Wanderers has now concluded.
Despite Graham’s promise and experience in the Scottish Premiership, Rangers are also believed to be weighing up a move for another highly-rated defensive prospect who could represent an even stronger addition.
According to journalist Ben Jacobs, Rangers are among several clubs monitoring ZTE defender Akpe Victory ahead of the summer transfer window.
The Nigerian teenager has reportedly attracted interest from across Europe, with Benfica, Basel and several clubs in Spain, France, Germany and Italy also keeping close tabs on his situation.
Reports suggest ZTE would be willing to consider offers in the region of £4.3 million for the 19-year-old, meaning Rangers would need to commit a sizeable fee if they hope to secure his signature.
Basel are said to have already failed with two bids, potentially opening the door for Rangers to make their move if they decide to accelerate negotiations.
While Luke Graham has impressed in Scotland and proven he can handle the physical demands of the Premiership, there remain questions over whether his playing style fully suits a possession-dominant side like Rangers.
Centre-backs at Ibrox are expected to remain calm in possession and contribute heavily to ball progression, an area where Graham’s numbers have raised some doubts.
By contrast, Victory is viewed as a more complete modern defender, combining strong defensive instincts with composure on the ball.
The youngster has also received glowing praise for his long-term ceiling, with talent scout Bence Bocsak previously describing him as a player with “crazy potential.”
Defensively, Victory’s numbers suggest he is capable of thriving in difficult one-on-one situations while also dominating aerially and across ground duels.
For Rangers, the teenager could represent a more exciting long-term investment — offering defensive reliability alongside the technical qualities needed to thrive in a title-chasing team expected to control possession week after week.
With competition intensifying for his signature, Rangers may need to act quickly if they believe Victory is the ideal player to strengthen Rohl’s defence ahead of next season.
