Celtic complete first summer transfer move after £3.5m clause activated

Celtic have completed their first official transfer business of the summer, with winger Luis Palma sealing a permanent move to Polish champions Lech Poznań.

The Scottish Premiership side will receive around £3.5 million after Poznań activated the purchase option included in Palma’s loan agreement. The Honduran forward spent last season with the Polish club, where his performances convinced them to secure his services on a long-term basis.

The move comes despite reported interest from Sevilla, who had been linked with Palma in recent weeks.

Lech Poznań president Karol Klimczak previously made no secret of the club’s desire to retain the winger, admitting negotiations were ongoing despite acknowledging the deal would not be straightforward.

Sporting director Adrian Gałuszka also praised Palma’s impact during his loan spell, highlighting both his creativity and contribution to key results throughout the campaign. The club viewed the attacker as an important figure after an impressive season in Poland.

Palma has now officially committed his future to Poznań by signing a three-year contract, bringing an end to his time at Celtic and giving the Hoops an early boost to their summer transfer plans.

The transfer represents Celtic’s first confirmed piece of business ahead of what is expected to be a busy window at Parkhead, with further squad changes anticipated in the coming weeks.
