Three new managerial contenders emerge in Leicester City boss search

Leicester City’s hunt for a new head coach appears to be taking fresh twists, with three additional names now reportedly entering the frame as the club looks to bounce back.

After former Peterborough United boss Darren Ferguson was initially viewed as a frontrunner, momentum has seemingly shifted toward ex-Southampton and Rangers manager Russell Martin, who is now reportedly leading the race for the King Power Stadium hotseat.

However, attention is also turning to three other managerial options believed to be under consideration.

Former Foxes midfielder and ex-Celtic manager Neil Lennon has emerged as a serious contender. Lennon’s successful spell at Celtic, where he won multiple league titles and domestic cups, alongside his previous connection to Leicester, is thought to make him an attractive option.

Another name linked is Dave Challinor, who has earned widespread praise for transforming Stockport County into a competitive force. His tactical discipline and steady rise through the English football pyramid have reportedly caught Leicester’s attention as they seek stability and long-term progress.

Meanwhile, former Leicester interim boss Dean Smith has also been mentioned as a possible candidate, despite mixed memories from his previous spell at the club, which ended with relegation from the Premier League.

With interim boss Gary Rowett unable to keep Leicester in the Championship, the club hierarchy are now exploring a range of options as they aim to mount an immediate push for recovery.

While Russell Martin may currently sit at the front of the queue, Leicester’s managerial picture appears far from settled as more names continue to emerge.
