Rangers step up interest in Luke Graham with transfer talks underway
Rangers F.C. are expected to step up their pursuit of Dundee centre-back Luke Graham ahead of the upcoming transfer window, with growing belief that the defender could be on the move this summer.
The 22-year-old has attracted increasing attention after an impressive campaign in the Scottish Premiership, and Dundee boss Steven Pressley has already suggested that Graham may have played his final game for the club in their recent clash against Aberdeen on 17 May. While stopping short of confirming his departure, Pressley admitted there is significant uncertainty over the defender’s future due to strong interest from multiple clubs.

Inside Ibrox, recruitment work is already underway, with scouting staff including Dan Purdy believed to have monitored Graham closely as Rangers look to strengthen their defensive options for incoming head coach Danny Röhl. The club are understood to have made early enquiries as they assess potential additions ahead of a key summer rebuild.
Dundee have reportedly received a number of enquiries for the Scotland Under-21 international, underlining the level of competition for his signature. Pressley himself confirmed the volume of interest, stating that the club have already taken several calls regarding the young defender, while leaving open the possibility that supporters may have already seen his final appearance in a Dundee shirt.
“Possibly. We don’t know how the activity will go,” Pressley explained. “But what we do know is there’s a lot of interest in him. A lot of interest. We’ve taken a lot of calls on him. So it might be the last time the supporters see him in a Dundee shirt. But it may not be.”
Graham has established himself as one of the most promising centre-backs in Scotland’s top flight, featuring in 35 league starts and helping Dundee keep six clean sheets during the campaign. His performances have been marked by consistency and defensive awareness, with strong underlying statistics including an average of 1.3 interceptions, 1.4 tackles, 3.9 ball recoveries, and 6.5 clearances per game.
Comfortable on the ball and left-footed, he has also contributed in attacking phases, registering two goals and one assist, along with a steady creative output from deeper positions.
With Rangers expected to lose defensive depth following the anticipated departures of Nasser Djiga and Derek Cornelius at the end of their loan spells, the need for reinforcements is becoming increasingly urgent. There is also a growing view among supporters and pundits that the club should prioritise signing more Scottish talent as part of their long-term squad strategy.
As a result, Graham is being viewed internally as a potentially smart and timely acquisition, particularly given his age, development trajectory, and familiarity with the Premiership. With interest mounting and competition likely to intensify, Rangers are expected to accelerate discussions if they are serious about securing one of Scotland’s most in-demand young defenders.
