Breaking news: Danny Röhl eager for Rangers to re-sign highly rated big-money winger
Andrew Cavenagh has publicly backed head coach Danny Röhl to remain in charge of Rangers for the 2026/27 season, insisting the German tactician is the right man to lead the club’s pursuit of silverware.
Speaking after the campaign came to an end, Cavenagh made it clear that the Ibrox hierarchy remain fully behind Röhl despite mixed fortunes during the season.

The Rangers chairman stressed that continuity in the dugout, combined with significant improvements to the playing squad, gives the club its strongest chance of reclaiming the Scottish Premiership title next season.
Cavenagh admitted that two major ingredients would be needed for Röhl to succeed — a stronger and refreshed squad, alongside a proper pre-season to fully implement his ideas.
Rangers have now made their stance clear, and attention is expected to turn toward whether the board can provide the financial backing required to support the manager in the transfer market this summer.
For Rangers to genuinely challenge for domestic honours and make progress in Europe, improvements across several areas of the squad appear essential.
Defensive frailties proved costly throughout the Premiership season, with the Light Blues conceding 43 goals in 38 league outings — the highest tally among the division’s top four clubs. Questions have also been raised over reliability between the posts, with goalkeeper Jack Butland enduring a difficult campaign after being credited with seven errors that directly resulted in opposition chances or goals.
While Rangers ended the season on a high note with an emphatic 5-2 victory away to Falkirk, inspired by a hat-trick from Youssef Chermiti, there remains a belief that the squad still lacks enough decisive players in key moments. Although the club regularly found the net against lower-ranked opposition, they struggled to deliver in major fixtures, scoring only once in defeats to rivals following the split.
That inconsistency has strengthened the argument for Rangers to recruit more game-changing attackers this summer — players capable of influencing the biggest matches. In that regard, Röhl appears eager to secure the future of one of the squad’s brightest attacking talents.
Former Rangers forward Hamza Igamane left a lasting impression during his time at Ibrox after netting 16 goals in the 2024/25 campaign before sealing a £10.4 million move to Lille, becoming Rangers’ biggest player sale in several years. Since then, teenage winger Mikey Moore has emerged as one of the most exciting prospects to wear the shirt.
Moore, who joined Rangers on loan from Tottenham Hotspur, quickly showcased his quality and maturity despite his age, producing standout performances throughout the campaign. Reports earlier this year suggested Rangers had already entered discussions with Spurs over the possibility of bringing the youngster back to Ibrox on a permanent basis or another deal, with the Premier League club reportedly open to negotiations under certain circumstances.
Röhl himself has made little secret of his admiration for the teenager, recently admitting Rangers would “try everything” to secure his return.
Valued at around £40 million, Moore has been tipped as the club’s brightest attacking prospect since Igamane, not only because of his market value but also due to his output and impact in crucial moments.
The winger demonstrated an ability to rise to the occasion in high-pressure fixtures, notably scoring twice in three Old Firm clashes against Celtic in 2026 across all competitions.
Combined with his creative influence and attacking fearlessness, Moore has shown signs that he could become a cornerstone of Rangers’ long-term future if a deal can be completed.
