Scott Brown reveals who could replace Callum McGregor as Celtic F.C. captain

Scott Brown and Callum McGregor have both captained Celtic F.C. in very different styles over the years, yet each has proven highly successful in their own way.

Brown was known for his vocal, commanding presence, making sure opponents were always aware of his leadership on the pitch.

In contrast, McGregor leads more quietly, setting the standard through his composure, bravery on the ball, and consistency in performances.

Despite their contrasting approaches, both have guided Celtic to major success, with McGregor continuing to carry the captain’s armband with distinction.

Looking ahead, Brown believes there is a clear successor once McGregor eventually steps down. He has backed Kieran Tierney to take on the role, describing it as a natural progression when the time comes. According to Brown, McGregor still has several strong years ahead, but when that chapter closes, Tierney is the obvious choice to inherit the responsibility.

Tierney’s return to Celtic has already made a major impact, with many supporters viewing him as one of the standout performers this season. His leadership qualities, commitment to the club, and influence on the pitch have only strengthened the belief that he could be the next long-term captain.

While Brown is confident about the immediate succession plan, he admitted uncertainty about who could follow beyond Tierney. However, he remains convinced that Celtic are well covered in terms of leadership for the foreseeable future.

There are also other players who could emerge as leaders within the squad. Alistair Johnston has shown strong leadership traits when given responsibility, while goalkeeper Viljami Sinisalo has impressed with his presence and authority despite still establishing himself.

Overall, while McGregor continues to lead, the path forward appears clear, with Tierney widely tipped as the next man to take on the captaincy at Celtic.
