Martin O’Neill admitted that Tomáš Čvančara was “pretty down” despite Celtic F.C. securing a win over Dundee F.C..

The striker endured a frustrating afternoon, missing several chances and continuing his struggle for goals, with just one from open play so far. O’Neill acknowledged that the 25-year-old is feeling the pressure, stressing that strikers rely heavily on scoring to build confidence.

He revealed that Čvančara was disappointed with himself after the match, believing he could have scored at least twice. The manager explained that such situations can be mentally tough for forwards, as their form is closely tied to finding the net.

Čvančara was eventually replaced by Kelechi Iheanacho, who went on to score the decisive goal.

O’Neill also admitted he is still searching for his best starting XI, highlighting ongoing adjustments within the squad. He praised Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain for an impressive first-half display, while noting that adapting to the pace of the Scottish game can be challenging.

Overall, the Celtic boss emphasised the need for balance in his team as he continues to rotate players and assess his options.
