Fresh Leeds United move puts Southampton FC and Watford FC under pressure
With just a month remaining in the Championship season, clubs are already beginning to shift focus toward the upcoming summer transfer window, which will run alongside the FIFA World Cup. Despite the league table still largely undecided—with most teams yet to confirm their fate regarding promotion, play-offs, or relegation—planning behind the scenes is well underway.
One club balancing both present and future priorities is Southampton FC. The Saints remain one of only two EFL teams still competing in the FA Cup and are preparing for a high-stakes quarter-final clash against Premier League leaders Arsenal at St Mary’s. Notably, Southampton head into the tie in strong form, having avoided defeat in all competitions since mid-January.

While their league position remains uncertain—with a play-off push ongoing alongside teams like Hull City, Wrexham, and Derby County—the South Coast side are also active in the transfer market.
Reports suggest that Southampton FC are among several clubs interested in Ilan Kebbal, a highly-rated winger currently playing for Paris FC. The 27-year-old has impressed this season, contributing eight goals and five assists in 25 appearances.
However, competition for his signature is intensifying. Watford FC are also keen, while Leeds United are monitoring the situation from the Premier League. Meanwhile, Olympique de Marseille are believed to be leading the race at this stage.
Although no official transfer fee has been confirmed, previous reports indicated that Ipswich Town were considering a £10 million move for Kebbal earlier in the year, giving an indication of his market value.
