Enzo Maresca’s damning verdict delivered ahead of his Leicester exit for Chelsea

Due to Enzo Maresca’s long-term contract with Chelsea, the Italian has been cautioned about the repercussions should his departure from Leicester City not transpire as intended.

Enzo Maresca may not make it past the holiday season, according to the prediction of Chelsea manager Stan Collymore, who issues a clear warning to the departing Leicester City manager prior to his next endeavor.

It is anticipated that Maresca will be introduced as the successor to Mauricio Pochettino on Friday, following discussions with the Chelsea hierarchy throughout the week. Having led Leicester back to the Premier League in his sole year at the King Power Stadium, he will depart.

Regardless of his employer, the Italian would have advanced in divisions; however, this change in employment carries with it greater ambition and scrutiny for the Italian to achieve at the summit of the table. Last season, Chelsea fell five points short of the top four; they are determined to return to that group as soon as feasible.

This objective has surpassed its four predecessors over the past two years, and a five-year contract in West London indicates a renewed willingness to entrust Maresca with the management of a lengthy process. Former Liverpool and Aston Villa striker and commentator Collymore, however, has stated that Chelsea will not be hesitant to continue their recent trend and terminate the acquisition if the new player fails to perform.

“Parma and Leicester are, with all due respect, a completely different animal than Chelsea,” the former Premier League striker cautions Maresca in his most recent column for CaughtOffside.

“He began his professional career with West Bromwich Albion, so he is well-versed in England. Additionally, he has appeared for Sevilla, Fiorentina, Bologna, Juventus, Malaga, Sampdoria, and Olympiacos, which gives him an exceptionally impressive resume.” However, Chelsea is an enormous beast that devours outstanding managers. It devoured Mourinho, Thomas Tuchel, Graham Potter, and Frank Lampard all twice.

Pochettino encountered challenges during his tenure at Chelsea due in part to an initial sequence of inconsistent outcomes resulting from a squad that had been significantly reconstructed with the addition of new players. Ultimately, he led the club to the Carabao Cup final, the FA Cup semi-finals, and sixth place in the league standings. However, his insistence on having a greater say in player agreements was disregarded, and this failed to prevent their eventual separation.

Collymore further stated, “He will need to generate victories despite possibly having to sell some of his senior players, as the club is on the verge of violating FFP regulations despite selling hotels in London and engaging in other creative accounting practices.” In order to qualify for Europe, and by that I mean the Europa League, the Blues must quickly amass a string of excellent results.

“I would be completely surprised if, by Christmastime, there are no rumors circulating regarding Maresca’s status, given that this is a young, capricious rookie group.” In my opinion, this is a lackluster appointment; the club should have retained Poch, and I have a sense that we will be discussing Chelsea’s next managerial change in November or December.
