TRANSFER: Barcelona set to earn up to €8m following French defender’s interest in Juventus move
FC Barcelona is in need of any form of income that can assist them in overcoming their FFP issues and securing their desired targets during the summer transfer window, as a result of their current financial situation.
The Catalan club has been tantalise by the potential source of income that has not yet materialised over the past few months: the sale of Jean Claire Todibo, one of their former defenders.
Some months ago, the Frenchman was associated with a potential transfer to Manchester United, with Barcelona agreeing to pay 20% of any fee in exchange for his transfer. However, this arrangement ultimately failed to materialise.
According to Mundo Deportivo, the French defender is currently interested in a transfer to Juventus, an Italian club, and has instructed his agents to await an offer from the Old Lady.
Nice, the club that presently owns Todibo, is seeking €40 million for their star defender. Juventus has the financial capacity to pay this amount; however, they are still anticipating that Nice will reduce the asking price to some extent.
Barcelona is aware that they will receive 20% of any fee paid for him, and their earnings from this prospective operation could exceed €8 million.
Juventus will eagerly anticipate the completion of this transaction, as they require a defensive reinforcement for their squad this summer prior to the commencement of Thiago Motta’s inaugural season as the Italian club’s new coach. Motta is a former Barcelona midfielder.
In recent seasons in Ligue 1, Todibo has captivated audiences with his defensive prowess. Additionally, he contributed three assists during the most recent league campaign.
He has become one of the most sought-after defenders in Europe due to his physicality, aggression, and agility. Barcelona would still anticipate his transfer to a new club this season, as it would substantially increase their financial resources, despite the fact that they do not require him in their squad due to an already overcrowded center-back position.
