Celtic Receive Second MobLand Shout-Out as Hit Drama Character Makes Another Hoops Reference

Celtic have received another unexpected mention in hit crime drama MobLand, with Emmett J. Scanlan’s character bringing up the Hoops for the second consecutive week.

The latest reference follows a moment in last week’s episode when Paul, played by Scanlan, delivered a sarcastic response after being asked whether something had surprised him.

“This, a surprise? Nah,” he said. “Nah, see, only this morning, my nan, she signed for Celtic.”

That line quickly caught the attention of Celtic supporters, but the popular character has now made another reference to the Scottish champions.

Paul has followed up his previous remark with a more straightforward Celtic mention in the latest episode.

The three-word reference is another moment likely to catch the attention of supporters watching the series, although the circumstances surrounding the line will be left untouched to avoid spoiling the episode for anyone yet to watch it.

Scanlan plays Paul, one of the guards working for the Harrigan family in the crime drama.

The actor appears alongside an impressive cast featuring Tom Hardy, Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren. Hardy stars as Harry Da Souza, a fixer who becomes involved in the increasingly dangerous affairs of the Harrigan family.

Celtic mentioned in latest MobLand episode

The latest shout-out appears in the eighth episode of the second series, titled We Don’t Talk Anymore, which was released on Friday, November 6.

The series is available to stream on Paramount+, with the next episode scheduled to arrive on November 13, according to the published release schedule.

It means Celtic have now been mentioned in two consecutive weeks, with Scanlan’s character seemingly making his football allegiance increasingly obvious.

For Hoops supporters who enjoy spotting unexpected references to their club, MobLand has provided another talking point.
