Rangers could receive major financial boost as AndrewCavenagh’s £4.5bn business development emerges

Rangers could be in line for fresh investment after developments surrounding chairman Andrew Cavenagh’s businessinterests raised the possibility of a significant increase in his personal wealth.

Former Manchester City financial adviser Stefan Borson believes the American businessman may consider puttingadditional money into the Ibrox club if a potential sale of his company, ParetoHealth, goes through.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Borson suggested the development could have a major impact on Rangers, withthe chairman potentially in a position to provide Derek McInnes with further financial backing.

The Gers are currently enjoying a 10-game unbeaten run in Scotland and remain in pursuit of Celtic at the top of thePremiership table. McInnes has helped his squad find consistency following a summer of considerable change, althoughhis side still sit four points behind their Old Firm rivals.

Record signing Kevin Kelsy has also started to deliver in attack, contributing five goals and an assist as Rangers look tomaintain their title challenge.

However, there is a growing feeling that further additions may be required when the transfer window reopens in January.

Cavenagh’s potential £4.5bn business sale could benefit Rangers

ParetoHealth is reportedly the subject of a potential sale that could value the business at around £4.5billion.

While there is no guarantee that any proceeds would be directed towards Rangers, Borson believes Cavenagh’s financialposition could change considerably if he holds a substantial stake in the company.

He told Football Insider:

“If somebody has got a very significant holding of a £4bn company, then yes, it can help.

“They come out of the situation and they’ve got to do something with their time, and people do like to have fun withfootball.

“If you look at the situation, he’s apparently worth £300m, according to various press. I don’t know what he’s got ofParetoHealth, but if he’s got a very significant stake…”

Borson went on to explain that a successful transaction could transform Cavenagh’s personal wealth and potentiallyencourage him to increase his backing of the Glasgow club.

“That’s going to be transformational to his personal wealth. And he may well decide that actually Rangers are somewherethat he wants to give a very significant boost.

“So yes, it can make a difference. That sort of money, in the context of Scottish football, is potentially very important.”

Rangers unlikely to spend recklessly in January

Despite the possibility of additional funds becoming available, Borson has warned supporters against expecting a majorspending spree when the transfer window opens.

In a separate assessment, the financial expert suggested Rangers could make important additions but insisted anyinvestment would need to be carefully managed.

European football’s financial challenges could also restrict spending across Scottish football, making a cautious approachmore likely.

Borson explained:

“I wouldn’t say big, but careful. Careful spending is possible [for Rangers], despite the European issues.

“Unfortunately, given the European issues, I think big spending for any of the Scottish clubs this season is unlikely.

“So I think it’s got to be quite measured and cautious.”

Kelsy’s £9.5million arrival from Portland Timbers underlined Rangers’ willingness to invest during the summer, but thereare still areas of McInnes’ squad that could require attention.

Ghedjemis and McCann among Rangers’ potential targets

Fares Ghedjemis, who plays for Frosinone, remains a name linked with a possible move to Ibrox.

Rangers have also reportedly sent scouts to watch Doncaster Rovers midfielder Bayley McCann in League One,suggesting the club are continuing to assess potential options ahead of January.

Nico Raskin’s future is another subject that regularly attracts attention during transfer windows. However, Football Insiderunderstands the Belgian midfielder has too much respect for Rangers to push for a departure midway through thecampaign.

The club also spent heavily last summer, bringing in players including Minsu Kim, Olwethu Makhanya and VanjaDragojevic, alongside Kelsy.

For now, Rangers’ immediate priority will be maintaining their domestic momentum and staying within touching distanceof Celtic.

A potential windfall for Cavenagh could create further opportunities, but Borson’s comments suggest supporters shouldanticipate targeted recruitment rather than an uncontrolled January spending spree.
