Rangers handed fresh boost in pursuit of Fares Ghedjemis after stunning Frosinone display

Rangers should be considering another attempt to sign Fares Ghedjemis after the Frosinone winger delivered an outstanding performance in Serie A.

The Algerian wide man attracted interest from the Ibrox club during the summer following his impressive displays for the Italian side. However, Frosinone managed to keep hold of their prized asset after turning down an £8million offer from Rangers in August.

Ghedjemis has since continued to demonstrate his quality, with his latest performance providing further evidence of the attacking threat he could bring to Derek McInnes’ side.

With Rangers looking to strengthen their challenge for the Scottish Premiership title, the 24-year-old could become an attractive target when the transfer window reopens.

Fares Ghedjemis shines with three assists against Atalanta

Frosinone have made an encouraging start to life back in Italy’s top flight, underlined by their entertaining 4-4 draw against Atalanta last weekend.

Ghedjemis was one of the standout performers, registering three assists and causing problems for the opposition throughout the contest.

His individual statistics highlighted his influence. The winger created seven chances, recorded six shots and completed 88 per cent of his passes. He also registered 13 touches inside the opposition penalty area, more than any of his teammates.

That display further underlined why Rangers were interested in securing his signature during the summer.

McInnes will be keen to find greater consistency in the final third as Rangers attempt to keep pace with Celtic in the title race. Ghedjemis could offer the team additional creativity, direct running and a greater threat in attacking areas.

His performances in Italy suggest he could be a player worth revisiting when Rangers next assess their recruitment options.

Ghedjemis transfer interest remains despite new Frosinone deal

Frosinone have moved to secure Ghedjemis’ future by handing him a new contract since the summer transfer window closed. However, that has not stopped clubs from monitoring his progress.

His agent, Fabrizio Ferrari, recently indicated that interest from overseas clubs remains strong, despite the winger continuing his development in Italy.

Speaking to Italian media earlier this month, Ferrari explained that Ghedjemis had attracted several offers from abroad, including interest from three major European clubs.

He also suggested that Frosinone had made a significant effort to retain the player, turning down a substantial transfer opportunity because of his potential and performances.

Ferrari added that clubs outside Italy continued to make contact and watch the winger in person, while questioning the reluctance of Italian sides to invest in players who have impressed in Serie B.

Those comments suggest that Ghedjemis could remain a name to watch in the transfer market, even after Frosinone took steps to protect his value with a new deal.

For Rangers, any future move would likely depend on the asking price and the level of competition for his signature. Nevertheless, his recent performances have offered another reminder of the qualities that attracted their attention in the first place.

If McInnes wants to add more cutting edge to his attack, Ghedjemis could be a candidate worth keeping on the shortlist ahead of a potential return to the transfer market.
