Chaos erupts in Glasgow as football fans clash before Celtic vs Celta Vigo
Chaotic scenes unfolded in Glasgow city centre shortly before Celtic’s Europa League clash against Celta Vigo, with shocking footage appearing to show groups of football supporters clashing in the streets.
Video circulating online captured hooded individuals dressed in dark clothing charging towards rival supporters along Argyle Street, with glass bottles thrown during the disorder. Several bottles could be seen smashing onto the road as the situation escalated.

The footage also captured screams from members of the public who appeared alarmed by the violence, which broke out shortly before the match’s scheduled 8pm kick-off at Celtic Park.
The clashes came as Glasgow welcomed thousands of travelling Celta Vigo supporters for the European fixture. The Spanish club was expected to bring its largest-ever away following, adding to the large crowds gathering in the city ahead of the game.
It remains unclear whether anyone was injured during the incident, and further details about what sparked the confrontation have yet to emerge.
Meanwhile, Celtic’s ultras group was not expected to attend the match as part of its ongoing protest against the club’s board.
The group had previously announced plans to boycott the remaining European home fixtures and all Scottish Cup matches as tensions with the Celtic hierarchy continued.
The disorder in the city centre cast a shadow over the build-up to the European encounter, with questions likely to be raised about the circumstances surrounding the clashes and whether any further action will follow.
