Footage Emerges of Reported Brawl Outside Celtic Park Before Hearts Clash
Footage has emerged online appearing to show a confrontation between rival supporters outside Celtic Park before Celtic’s Scottish Premiership meeting with Hearts on Sunday.
According to The Scottish Sun, a reported brawl broke out along Celtic Way as visiting supporters made their way towards the stadium ahead of kick-off.
Videos circulating on social media appear to show individuals exchanging blows near the Billy McNeill statue, with some people also seen lifting crowd-control barriers during the incident.
The reported confrontation took place before the two sides met in a crucial league fixture at Parkhead, where Celtic were looking to strengthen their position at the top of the Scottish Premiership.
The Scottish Sun reported that Police Scotland had been approached for comment. No response from the force was included in the report at the time of publication, and further details surrounding the incident remain unclear.
Celtic thrash Hearts in seven-goal display
While the reported disturbance attracted attention outside the ground, Celtic produced a commanding performance on the pitch to defeat Hearts 7-1.
Martin O’Neill’s side delivered an emphatic attacking display to move four points clear at the summit of the Scottish Premiership, strengthening their position in the title race.
Callum Osmand enjoyed a memorable afternoon, scoring twice on his first professional start, while Benjamin Nygren also registered a brace.
Kieran Tierney and Camilo Duran added further goals for the Hoops, with Jamie McCart scoring an own goal to complete Celtic’s seven-goal haul.
Hearts managed a consolation through Laurent Mendy, but the Edinburgh side were ultimately overwhelmed by Celtic’s attacking quality.
The result gave the home supporters plenty to celebrate, although the reported incident outside Celtic Park ensured that events surrounding the fixture extended beyond the action on the pitch.
With footage of the alleged confrontation circulating online, further information from the relevant authorities may clarify the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Celtic delivered the kind of attacking display their supporters have been eager to see, moving the ball quickly and taking full advantage of the visitors’ defensive errors.
Several players impressed with their individual performances, while Jota continued his return to full fitness by completing another 45 minutes on the pitch.
Attention now turns to Thursday’s Europa League encounter with Celta Vigo, where Celtic must build on their recent performance and turn their renewed confidence into a crucial three points.
