Nicolas Raskin singled out as Belgian media delivers verdict after France turnaround
Belgian media reacts to Nicolas Raskin as Rangers star caught in turning point vs France
Nicolas Raskin was once again trusted from the start as Belgium travelled to France for their latest Nations League meeting, giving Rangers another reason to be pleased with the midfielder’s growing role on the international stage.

However, it ultimately became a difficult evening for Raskin and Belgium as France produced a stunning late turnaround to win 4-1.
Belgium looked on course for a memorable result for much of the contest. They held their one-goal advantage until the final stages before France completely changed the game and scored four times.
Raskin remained on the pitch for the full 90 minutes, gaining valuable experience against some of the biggest names in world football.
Raskin receives 5/10 rating
Belgian outlet Nieuwsblad gave the Rangers midfielder a 5/10 rating for his performance.
The report highlighted Raskin’s willingness to push forward and make attacking runs, but also picked out one crucial moment when he allowed Désiré Doué too much space to turn during France’s equaliser.
That moment was described as a turning point in the contest.
Raskin also had one promising opportunity in the penalty area but was unable to keep his header on target.
DH Les Sports also handed him a 5/10 rating, noting that his attacking contribution was limited while praising his defensive work before suggesting that his influence dropped as the match progressed.
For Raskin, though, there is plenty to take from playing the entire game against a France side packed with elite talent.
France’s substitutes change everything
Belgium appeared to be heading towards a huge result with just over 10 minutes remaining, but France’s depth eventually proved decisive.
Michael Olise, Rayan Cherki and Désiré Doué were introduced during the second half, and the trio played a huge role in turning the game on its head.
Between them, they were directly involved in all four of France’s goals, highlighting the extraordinary attacking options available to Didier Deschamps.
From a Rangers perspective, there is little reason for major concern over Raskin’s display. He has now completed another full international match against one of the strongest teams in world football and will return to Ibrox with another valuable experience under his belt.
Derek McInnes will now hope Raskin can bring that experience back to Rangers as the club prepares to return to domestic action.
And after facing France’s star-studded attack, the midfielder will probably be happy to see Kilmarnock rather than Olise or Cherki when Rangers get back to business at Ibrox.
