Watford win race for free agent after Everton and Crystal Palace interest
Watford are set to strengthen their squad with the signing of former Monaco player Krépin Diatta, with reports suggesting an agreement has now been reached for the Senegal international.
The 27-year-old became a free agent after bringing a five-year spell at Monaco to an end earlier this year, allowing clubs to move for him even after the transfer window had closed.

Diatta had attracted attention from several Premier League sides during the summer, with Crystal Palace strongly linked at one stage before Everton were also reported to have explored a possible deal.
Neither club managed to complete a move, however, opening the door for Watford to step in.
According to reports from Senegal, the Hornets have now agreed terms to bring Diatta to Vicarage Road, adding a player with considerable top-level experience to their squad.
One of Diatta’s biggest strengths is his versatility.
Although naturally a wide attacker, the Senegal international has regularly featured as a wing-back and has also been used in a more traditional right-back role during his career.
That adaptability could prove valuable for Watford as they look to add depth and quality across several positions.
Diatta joined Monaco from Club Brugge in 2021 and went on to make 143 appearances for the Ligue 1 side, contributing eight goals and nine assists.
Last season, he was used predominantly as a right wing-back, making 22 appearances and continuing to show the flexibility that has made him an attractive option for clubs across Europe.
For Watford, securing a player with international experience and a background at clubs such as Monaco and Club Brugge could represent a significant addition, particularly given that they have been able to complete the deal without paying a transfer fee.
