New sponsor confirmed as EFL Trophy takes new name for 2026/27

The EFL Trophy has secured a new five-year sponsorship agreement with American sandwich chain Jersey Mike’s, with the partnership set to run through the 2030-31 campaign.

The deal makes Jersey Mike’s the fifth different sponsor to back the competition over the past seven years.

The tournament is contested by clubs from League One and League Two, with Premier League under-21 teams also taking part as invited sides.

Luton Town lifted last season’s trophy after beating Stockport County 3-1 in the final at Wembley, securing the competition for only the second time in the club’s history.

Oxford United have twice reached the final without winning the competition.

EFL chief executive Trevor Birch welcomed the new sponsorship and highlighted the role the tournament plays for clubs and supporters.

“The Jersey Mike’s Trophy has an important place in the football calendar,” Birch said.

He added that the competition gives players the opportunity to gain competitive experience, provides clubs with financial benefits and allows League One and League Two supporters to watch their teams compete for silverware at Wembley.

Oxford United will begin their campaign on Tuesday, October 6, when they travel to St James’s Park to face Exeter City.

The U’s have been placed in a group alongside League Two clubs Exeter and Cheltenham Town, as well as Tottenham Hotspur Under-21s.
