Hugh Jackman eyes Norwich City stake after Reynolds’ Wrexham journey

Hollywood star Hugh Jackman has revealed that he is in talks over a potential investment in Championship club Norwich City, with the actor hoping to follow the path taken by his close friend Ryan Reynolds at Wrexham.

The Australian actor, best known for his roles in The Wolverine, Les Miserables and The Greatest Showman, has confirmed that he is exploring the possibility of becoming an investor in English football.

Jackman has a long-standing connection to Norwich City, with his mother, Grace, originally from the city. That family link helped shape his support for the Canaries from an early age.

Speaking to talkSPORT about the possibility of becoming involved with Norwich, Jackman confirmed that discussions are already taking place and suggested that he is serious about the opportunity.

The Hollywood star also pointed to Reynolds’ remarkable experience at Wrexham as an example of what can be achieved through celebrity investment in football. Reynolds and Rob McElhenney’s takeover transformed Wrexham’s profile, with the Welsh club rising through the English football pyramid while developing a huge international following.

Jackman and Reynolds are also close friends and have worked together on major Hollywood projects, most notably Deadpool & Wolverine.

The actor explained that his support for Norwich goes back to his childhood in Australia. His parents were English immigrants, and watching the FA Cup with his family introduced him to English football.

With his father from London and his mother from Norwich, Jackman eventually decided that the Canaries would be his team.

His loyalty to Norwich has remained strong despite the club’s difficult beginning to the current Championship campaign. The Canaries have struggled under Philippe Clement and currently occupy 20th place after taking just one victory from their opening four matches.

Jackman, however, remains confident that Norwich can turn their season around and has even predicted that the club will win promotion.

The actor recalled visiting Carrow Road and spoke enthusiastically about his affection for the club, while also referencing Norwich’s 1984 Milk Cup triumph as part of the club’s history.

Although Jackman has not disclosed how much money he would invest or what percentage of Norwich City he could acquire, his reported £100 million fortune could make him another major celebrity name to become involved in English football.

He would join a growing group of high-profile investors and celebrity stakeholders across the English game. Tom Brady has a minority stake in Birmingham City, JJ Watt is involved with Burnley, Will Ferrell has invested in Leeds United, while Ed Sheeran owns a minority stake in Ipswich Town.
